I am Mick Bates and I am running for State Senate - District 9.

Our families need a real leader in the state Senate. I'm republican candidate Mick Bates. You know me, I've created jobs right here in this community. I'm a lifetime Christian, 100% pro-life, and I'll defend our gun rights. I support President Trump's "America First" agenda to create jobs, fix our bridges and roads, and support our families. I'm the only conservative proven candidate that will fight for you.

I am proud to call West Virginia my chosen home.

The natural beauty, welcoming people and economic opportunities that first brought me to this region almost 30 years ago, where I built a business and a life and raised a family, are now being discovered by the rest of the world.

More and more, people are realizing that West Virginia truly is almost heaven. But, for me - being almost heaven isn't good enough.

I worked hard during my last 8 years as a Delegate for Beckley and Raleigh County. However, I made a promise that I would not serve in that role for more than 8 years.

I have fought for lower taxes, better access to broadband, improved roads, and investments in education. My work isn't done.

That is why I am running for State Senate.

I want to build on what I have already done, and provide trusted conservative leadership to this new district that represents the heart and best of Southern West Virginia: Raleigh, Wyoming and Fayette Counties.

I believe we can build a place that people visit and don't leave. A place to raise families and seniors to enjoy retirement. A place where you can find good work and successful businesses are built. A place that isn't almost heaven, but actually IS heaven.

To accomplish this, we need to continue to advance the issues that I have fought for in the legislature.

About Mick

Mick is the son of a coal miner and grandson of a miner that spent 40 years underground. He has lived in Beckley for more than 20 years where he and his wife, Pam, have raised 4 children.

Bates is a Physical Therapist at BODYWORKS where he serves patients in Beckley and Pineville. Through his work, he helps coal miners and individuals within the community get back to work and share their frustrations with red-tape.

In 2014, Bates won a seat in the House of Delegates. The values - integrity, services about self, cooperation and responsibility - and platform - creating jobs, ending drug abuse, and fixing and building roads - that drove his campaign in 2014 remain the values and focus of Bates' work now.
